Woman-owned Software Company, Interactive Health Technologies, Launches New Heart Rate Monitor Designed to Promote Emotional Well-being for Students in the Classroom
Austin, Texas-based Interactive Health Technologies, LLC (IHT), industry leader and manufacturer of the world’s only heart rate monitor system for the measurement of K-12 students’ physical and emotional well-being, today announces the release of its newest monitor, on Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day: the Spirit Heart Rate Monitor.
Following the success of the ZONE Heart Rate Monitor in classrooms across the United States, the new Spirit Heart Rate Monitor bridges the connection between body and mind with a monitor schools, mental health professionals, child behavioral specialists and parents can provide for children and adolescents to track physical activity and emotional wellness.
Data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention shows that as many as one in five children and adolescents in the U.S. have a mental, behavioral or emotional disorder. With an estimated 20% of this population receiving care from a specialized mental health provider, the Spirit Heart Rate Monitor is poised to make a positive impact on kids in classrooms, counseling sessions and homes across the country.
“The launch of our next-generation monitor marks a new chapter in our ongoing mission to deliver thoughtful, innovative solutions for students, their families and the educators who support them,” IHT founder and CEO Jen Ohlson said. “Designed specifically for children and young adults, the Spirit Monitor uses smart, intuitive heart rate technology to help students take greater ownership of their physical and emotional wellness. It links mental and physical well-being — helping students understand how they feel, how they move and how those experiences shape their daily lives — while giving teachers, parents and mental health providers a simpler, more effective way to support that growth.”
The Spirit Heart Rate Monitor connects body and mind through real-time biofeedback. It delivers instant insights that tie physical activity to emotional awareness. By tracking heart rate during both movement and reflection, students build skills in self-regulation, stress management and personal growth — foundations of physical fitness and emotional development.
The Spirit System includes the Spirit Heart Rate Monitor, assessment software, curriculum resources, student journaling and mobile apps to use in the classroom or at home. Together, the eco-system provides real-time biofeedback, curriculum integration and automatic communication tools to connect all stakeholders.
The Spirit Heart Rate Monitor is available for school districts, educators and school staff to preorder now for the 2025/2026 school year.
