Nick Cummins has returned to social media following 10 days of silence while he completed the Kokoda Trail in Papua New Guinea.

After landing back in Australia on Thursday morning - seven days after The Bachelor finale aired - the 31-year-old shared an update to his 511,000 followers on Instagram.

'G'day guys, I'm back "out of hiding" from my Kokoda trip over there,' he began.

Nick then took a swipe at A Current Affair for claiming he'd been 'living the bachelor life' in Papua New Guinea while avoiding media scrutiny back home.

'I've been promoting [the trek] for charity for the last year. But well done to A Current Affair,' he added. 'Kokoda was awesome, get over there! Massive piece of history and highly recommend it.'

Nick was directly responding Channel Nine's flagship current affairs program after it featured him on Wednesday night's episode.

He was ambushed at his hotel and asked about 'the mess he's left behind', referring to The Bachelor finale in which he chose neither of the two contestants.

After being confronted by journalist Reid Butler and ACA's camera crew, the former Wallaby looked stunned and said, 'Sorry?!'

Before his 'gotcha' moment, hidden camera footage showed the larrikin in relaxed spirits as he sipped cocktails and strolled around the resort in a white bathrobe.

It's believed A Current Affair's exclusive report was filmed shortly after Nick completed the Kokoda Trail walk.

After the episode aired, Reid revealed that things escalated quickly during his confrontation with the Honey Badger.

The reporter even hinted on Thursday's Kyle and Jackie O Show that he was 'probably one question away' from things becoming physical.

'I think I was one question away from getting a... things escalated,' he said.

Reid later said he was surprised by the awkwardness of his encounter with Nick because he assumed he was used to being in front of the cameras by now.

'It was a lot of more awkward and fiery than we were expecting. It was really, really full on,' he said.
