Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island raises record $57,000 during campaign

PROVIDENCE – At the close of March, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island had raised a record $57,000 in its 2018 annual March for Meals fundraising campaign aimed at ending senior hunger and isolation throughout the Ocean State.

“We wholeheartedly thank every individual, business and organization for their donation in support of our vital work to keep Rhode Island’s most vulnerable residents healthy and safe,” said Heather Amaral, Meals on Wheels of Rhode Island executive director, in a statement. “Because of their generosity, homebound seniors across the state will receive the daily delivered meals, safety checks and socialization they need to remain living in their own homes, where they want to be.”

The in-store “Buy a Wheel” fundraising component brought in $5,500 on its own.

Sponsorship from Webster Bank; Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island; CVS Health Corp.; Mott & Chace Sotheby’s International Realty; Howes Lubricator; Starkweather & Shepley Insurance Brokerage Inc.; Kahn, Litwin, Renza & Co. Ltd.; Mutual of America; and Amica Cos. Foundation is also included in the $57,000 total.
