Nicky Byrne will return to Eurovision this weekend as he is set to deliver Ireland's jury votes on Saturday's Grand Final.

The Westlife singer is a big fan of the annual song contest and even represented Ireland back in 2016.

Nicky flew out to Stockholm nine years ago to perform his self-penned track titled Sunlight, and although he did not qualify, he still has fond memories from the experience.

The Dubliner is now set to reprise his role as results announcer on Saturday night, for the first time since 2018.

Nicky was also Ireland's Eurovision spokesperson in 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2017, so he is no stranger to the process.

This year, the popstar turned presenter will be calling Basel live from Dublin on Saturday night to reveal which songs were a hit with the Irish jury at this year's Eurovision.

The news comes as the nation looks forward to EMMY's performance in the second semi-final on Thursday night.

The Norwegian singer will perform her upbeat hit Laika Party for Ireland and hopes to sail through to the Grand Final.

Other countries competing on the night are Australia, Montenegro, Latvia, Armenia, Austria, Greece, Lithuania and Malta.

Georgia, Denmark, Czechia, Luxembourg, Israel, Serbia and Finland complete the line-up.

Ten countries will join Albania, Estonia, Sweden, Iceland, Netherlands, Norway, Ukraine, San Marino, Portugal, Poland, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Spain and Germany for Saturday night's show.

Nicky has thrown his full support behind EMMY ahead of the semi-final.

He said in a video shared on social media "Hey Emmy! Nicky Byrne here checking in. Wow. Big day at Eurovision in Switzerland is just around the corner.

"Let me take this opportunity to wish you and all the gang the very best of luck. Go out there, enjoy the moment. Do your best. Be brilliant. And the whole of Ireland is completely proud of you.

"If you can bring the trophy home back to where it belongs, that would be lovely too.

"Do your best, EMMY. See you when you get back. Have fun."
