Mammootty-starrer Bazooka finally hit theatres on April 10, 2025, much to the delight of Mammookka fans who have been eagerly waiting for a stylish comeback of the Malayalam megastar after the lacklustre box office performance of his previous release, Dominic and the Ladies' Purse. So has Deeno Dennis’ debut directorial been able to match the expectations of fans and general audiences of Kerala? Let’s find out.

Mammootty’s Bazooka X review

After the first-day-first-show of Bazooka got over, netizens took to Twitter (X) to express their opinions. The fans obviously are going ga-ga over the Turbo actor’s stylish avatar and performance. The title card of the Malayalam megastar, which shows his memorable roles over the years, has received a thumbs-up from the viewers. It is one of the most applauded features of the action-packed game thriller.

The 'slow' first half did not impress most of the viewers, while some praised the stylish presentation, others panned the lack of depth in the narrative.

However, the most-talked-about portion of the film is the final act of 25 minutes or so. Fans are commenting that the 'kickass' climax and last portions are totally worth it.

Overall, Deeno Dennis’ debut directorial seems to have evoked mixed responses from the viewers who have praised the performance, stylish making and Saeed Abbas's BGM score, while the plot and execution have been panned.

It remains to be seen if Bazooka manages to get good word-of-mouth publicity in the coming days, and keep the momentum at the box office.

Bazooka Vs Alappuzha Gymkhana Vs Maranamass

The Mammootty-starrer is competing with Basil Joseph’s Maranamass and Premalu star Naslen’s Alappuzha Gymkhana at the box office. Reviews for the other two films are also trickling in and we will get a more clear picture in the coming days.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal’s Empuraan, which released on March 27, has entered the third week at the box office. The Prithviraj Sukumaran directorial, which is the sequel to the blockbuster Lucifer, has had a successful run at the box office despite running into controversies.
