The Prime Minister further said that everyone has seen in the last 10 years what stable and honest government can do for the country’s development. PM Modi is also scheduled to address two public rallies in Chhattisgarh later in the day – one in Janjgir Champa and another in Mahasamund. On Monday, PM Modi was in Aligarh for poll campaigning.     Fire breaks out at Bandhwari landfill site in Gurugram, brought under control after 12 hours

    A fire broke out in the Bandhwari landfill site in Gurugram on the outskirts of the national capital on Tuesday, days after a massive blaze erupted at the Ghazipur waste site in east Delhi.

    The blaze started around 5:15 am and more than a dozen fire engines from Gurugram and Faridabad were pressed into service. It was brought under control after around 12 hours, officials said.

    Child dies after falling into manhole in Lucknow

    An eight-year-old boy died after falling into a manhole in Jankipuram extension area here on Tuesday, an official said.

    Shahrukh was pulled out from the manhole by rescuers, and taken to a hospital, where he was declared dead, Municipal Commissioner of Lucknow Inderjit Singh told PTI.

    Rs 141 cr worth poll inducements seized in Andhra Pradesh so far

    The seizure of cash, liquor, drugs, precious metals, freebies and other inducements in the run-up to the elections in Andhra Pradesh has been pegged at Rs 141 crore from the announcement of the poll schedule announcement till date. Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh will be held simultaneously with Lok Sabha polls on May 13. The poll schedule was announced by the Election Commission on March 16.

    According to a press release from the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) on Tuesday, the value has already doubled the total value of such seizures in the run-up to the 2019 elections.

Elections to all the 26 Lok Sabha seats in Gujarat will be held in a single phase on May 7.

    Road crash in UP leaves four dead

    A Delhi-bound bus collided head-on with a truck on the Lucknow-Agra expressway here early Tuesday, leaving four passengers dead and 21 others injured, police said. There were about 40 passengers in the bus originating from Gorakhpur.

    Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Dr. Sansar Singh said the deceased are yet to be identified. The injured have been admitted to the Shri Bhimrao Ambedkar Government Medical College in Tirwa and those seriously injured have been referred to Kanpur.

    Delhi Police issues traffic advisory for Hanuman Janmotsav on Tuesday

    The Delhi Police has issued an advisory regarding traffic restrictions and diversions in view of Hanuman Janmotsav celebration in the central part of the city on Tuesday. The festival is being celebrated by the Hanuman Mandir Committee at Hanuman Mandir located on Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place, an official statement said.

    During the day, a gathering of around 50,000 to 60,000 devotees is expected. Beside this, shobha yatra will also be carried out from 3 pm to 6 pm in which 1,000-1,500 people along with seven rath's will be participating, which may affect the traffic on surrounding roads, it said. To ensure smooth traffic management in the vicinity, no vehicle will be allowed to halt or park anywhere on Baba Kharak Singh Marg and Outer CC, Connaught Place, the advisory said.

    Traffic will be diverted from Outer CC Baba Kharak Singh Marg, roundabout GPO, roundabout Patel Chowk, roundabout Windsor Place, it said.

    ECI orders repolling in 8 polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh

    The Election Commission has ordered repolling at eight polling stations in Arunachal Pradesh. On April 19, damage and violence were reported during polling to simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly polls. The poll body in an order on Sunday declared the polling in the eight polling booths as void and ordered fresh polling on April 24 from 6am to 2pm.

    The polling stations where repoll would be held include, Sario in Bameng assembly constituency in East Kameng district, Longte Loth under Nyapin assembly seat in Kurung Kumey, Dingser, Bogiya Siyum, Jimbari and Lengi polling booths under Nacho constituency in Upper Subansiri district. Repoll will also be held in Bogne and Molom polling booths under Rumgong assembly constituency in Siang district, the communique said.

    50 students of Pune coaching centre hospitalised over food poisoning

    Over 50 students from a coaching centre in Maharashtra's Pune district were hospitalised allegedly due to food poisoning. Condition of the students is stable and they were discharged after primary check-ups and treatment, said police.

    Rajkumar Kendre, Senior Police inspector at Khed Police station of Pune rural police said, "The coaching centre offers coaching for JEE and NEET exams and accommodates over 500 students. After dinner last night, some students started complaining of food poisoning following which they were admitted to a nearby hospital for treatment. With some primary check-ups and treatment, students were discharged from the hospital. Police have initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the food poisoning, with food samples being sent for laboratory testing."

    Repolling at 11 Manipur polling stations today.

    Repolling will be held at 11 polling stations in Inner Manipur Lok Sabha constituency today.  The affected polling stations are Moirangkampu Sajeb and Thongam Leikai in Khurai constituency, four in Kshetrigao and one in Thongju in Imphal East district and three in Uripok and one in Konthoujam in Imphal West district.
    Incidents of firing, intimidation, destruction of EVMs at some polling booths and allegations of booth capturing were reported from conflict-hit Manipur that recorded a turnout of 72 per cent in the two Lok Sabha constituencies - Inner Manipur and Outer Manipur - on Friday.

    Fire breaks out at Delhi's Ghazipur landfill site

    A major fire broke out at the Ghazipur landfill site in east Delhi on Sunday evening due to hot and dry weather conditions. Plumes of smoke were seen rising from the dumping yard as firefighters toiled to bring the flames under control. A Delhi Fire Services official said, "We received a call regarding the blaze at 5.22 pm and initially two fire tenders were pressed into service. Later, six more fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Firefighters are trying to douse the flames." According to fire officials, additional fire tenders have been put on standby and are ready to be dispatched.

    In a post on X, Delhi Mayor Shelly Oberoi said the fire broke out in a small patch of the Ghazipur landfill site.

    "A small patch of Ghazipur landfill site caught fire. As per instructions, all officers are present on the spot and everything is under control," she said.

    Deputy Mayor Aaley Muhammad Iqbal, who was among those present at the spot, said in a post on X, "After the fire incident at the Ghazipur landfill site came to light, (I) inspected the site. (I) gave instructions to the officials to control the fire soon. The fire broke out due to hot and dry weather." Five excavators have been deployed to control the fire, he said.

    Fire breaks out in Bhopal timber market; no injuries

    A fire broke out in a timber market in Madhya Pradesh capital Bhopal on Sunday night, an official said. No one was injured in the fire that started in the Chola area of the old city around 8 pm. "The fire has been extinguished just now," Bhopal Municipal Corporation Fire Officer Rameshwar Neel told PTI from the spot around 11.55 pm.

    BJP's Hyderabad candidate booked for hurting religious sentiments

    An FIR was registered against the BJP's Hyderabad candidate K Madhavi Latha following a complaint that she hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community by gesturing to shoot an arrow towards a place of worship, police said on Sunday. A purported video of the incident was widely circulated on social media last week.

    The complaint alleged that Madhavi Latha made a gesture of drawing an arrow and shooting it at the place of worship during a Ram Navami procession on April 17, hurting the sentiments of the Muslim community, the police said.
