Egypt great Essam El-Hadary has taken up the role of the U23 national team's goalkeeping coach, the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) announced on Sunday.

El-Hadary was named as part of the backroom staff of Egypt's U23 new coach Rogerio Micale, who guided Brazil to a historic gold medal at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games.

Widely considered as Egypt's best ever keeper, El-Hadary served as the goalkeeping coach of the senior national team during the reign of Portuguese boss Carlos Queiroz and the brief stint of his successor, Ehab Galal.

He was credited with helping Mohamed Abou-Gabal produce some spot-kick heroics during the African Nations Cup in Cameroon, where Egypt reached the final last February before losing to Senegal in the final.

The EFA also said former Ahly player Wael Riyad has been named as one of Micale's assistants.

On the domestic front, the governing body retained the rule that allows every club to register five foreign players in their squad.

It placed more restrictions on coaches as it seeks to end their habit of frequently moving between clubs during the course of a season. A coach who resigns can't join another club and a coach who is sacked is only allowed to move to one other team in a single season, the EFA said.

The EFA also said clubs won't be allowed to recruit new players beyond their means. The fees spent on signings must not exceed the budged presented by the club to the EFA, the association added.
