Apple has become aware of the disconnect between iPhone and Android users when it comes to their FaceTime video call service.

FaceTime was first introduced in 2010 with the rollout of iOS 4, it allowed iPhone users to video call each other free of charge as long as they had an internet or data connection.

You can now stay connected via FaceTime regardless of your device

Like many of Apple's features, this software was exclusive to iPhone users only and Android was essentially left out of the loop for over 10 years.

However, this is no longer the case, as the beta tests for iOS 15 become public, all iPhone users can now FaceTime their Android user friends- here's how.

How to FaceTime an Android or Windows user

It's important to note that the FaceTime app itself is not coming to Android or Windows, instead, non-iPhone users will have access to a link that will allow them to connect through FaceTime.

Furthermore, users on Android and Windows will need a pre-existing Apple account or set up a new one for this to work.

How to set up a FaceTime link on iPhone

1. Open the FaceTime app on your phone.

2. Tap Create Link .

3. A pop-up will appear at the bottom that says 'FaceTime Link'. Click 'add name' and enter the name of the person you can to call.

4. On the same screen, there will be an option to share the link through text, email, Twitter, calendar or other apps you have on your phone. Otherewise, you can copy and paste the link yourself.

5. Tap the name of the chat you just created, and tap 'join' to enter the call.

6. When the Android or Windows user clicks the link, it will take them to a waiting room, similar to Google Meets, where you can allow them to join the call by tapping a check next to their name.

How to join FaceTime on Android or Windows

1. When the FaceTime link is shared with you, press it.

2. The link will open a new window in your browser (you'll need the latest version of Chrome or Edge).

3 . Enter your name, and tap 'Continue'.

5. Wait for the person who invited you to approve you to join the call.
