Gulmira Kudaiberdieva speaks at Global Child Nutrition Forum in Tunisia

Bishkek, Oct. 23, 2018. /Kabar/. Minister of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic Gulmira Kudaiberdiyeva presented the school feeding program in the Kyrgyz Republic at the 20th Global Child Nutrition Forum entitled “National School Meal Programs for Food and Nutrition Security and Multiple Social Benefits”, which is being held in Tunisia, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic reported.

The Global Child Nutrition Forum is the world's largest annual conference on school feeding, which this year brought together more than 350 participants from 59 countries. Among them are 20 ministers of education, representatives of the business sector, UN agencies and academia.

At the forum, which was opened by David Beasley, Executive Director of WFP, the participants share their experiences in organizing school meals and innovations to improve the school meals program.

At the invitation of the organizers of the Forum, Gulmira Kudaiberdieva presented the results on optimizing the school feeding program in Kyrgyzstan.

The Deputy Regional Director of WFP, who moderated the meeting, noted that the experience of the Kyrgyz Republic in organizing school feeding should be an inspiration and example for achieving the goals of long-term and effective school feeding systems for other participating countries.

Andrea Bagnoli, Country Director of the UN WFP in the Kyrgyz Republic, who is also participating in the Forum, stressed that he is proud that the country in which he represents the UN WFP opens the way to successful practices for many countries of the world. Bagnoli added that this was made possible thanks to the dedicated work of teachers, parents, government, local governments, the private sector and international donors, and the leadership of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The Forum aims at strengthening partnerships between states to develop school feeding programs that would provide countries with not only socio-economic benefits, but also contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals.
